about us Michael and Tracy live in Cooroy, a small hinterland town 15kms from Noosa in Queensland, Australia. They both work with metal: Mick with stainless steel and aluminium, creating pieces of artwork which can be several metres long, while Tracy works with tiny sterling silver rings to make beautiful jewelry. Both sell their work at the Eumundi Markets. Mick hasn't always enjoyed working with metals, in fact he used to skip metalwork class as a schoolboy in Ballarat. Now living on the Sunshine Coast, these days he spends a great deal of time manipulating various metals and other mediums into one off artworks for clients worldwide. Now in his forties ( well in ),his latent talent has been given a chance to be expressed. After making table top pieces for friends and family, a touch gothic one might say, he began concentrating on large stainless steel and aluminium wall features in abstract and marine themes, with sailfish, marlin, turtles and stingrays being the main fare, with the odd gecko and brolga thrown in. They make an eye-catching feature with their brilliant flashes of colour in metallic blues, greens and copper shades. To see pictures of his work, click here [ ]. Tracy has always liked sterling silver jewelry but never thought that one day she would actaully make it herself. She is also drawn to round shaped objects and when she saw a picture of a chain maille bracelet she was instantly captivated by it and wanted to learn more about chain maille. She was to discover a whole new world - jewelry that had its origins hundreds of years ago and yet she, like most people, had never heard of it before. It has taken a year for 1st Class Maille to be created, which specialises in sterling silver chain maille using the best quality handmade rings she could find. She joins each ring together by hand to create various 'weaves'. Some examples of her work can be seen here [ ]. For more information about the jewelry, click here [ ].
